Mthuli Ncube Visits Surface Wilmar To Probe Cooking Oil Shortage

Minister of Finance Mthuli Ncube on Friday visited cooking oil manufacturer, Surface Wilmar. He was on a tour to assess the challenges facing the manufacturing industry. The country has been experiencing shortages of cooking oil and when it is available, the prices are very high. The manufacturing giant is the largest cooking oil manufacturer in Zimbabwe. Situated in Chitungwiza, Surface Wilmar’s business activities include oil seed crushing and edible oils refining, among others. Local industry is experiencing low capacity utilisation due to limited foreign currency availability. Commenting on reports that the government intends to sell its stake in Olivine to foreign investors, Ncube said

We are just looking at the possibilities of selling the shares to maximise production.
