ZBC Suspends Tazzen Mandizvidza Over $1 Million Debt
Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) chief executive officer Patrick Mavhura confirmed in a letter seen by NewZimbabwe.com, that Tazzen Mandizvidza has been suspended without pay over a US$1 083 000,00 debt.
An audit carried out in 2014 resulted in Mandizvidza and several other senior executives being accused of defrauding ZBC of more than US$7 million. ZBC suspended the senior executives but Mandizvidza returned to work after a deal under which he reportedly agreed to pay back what he owed. However, according to the suspension letter from Mavhura, Mandizvidza failed to honour the terms of the deal. Part of the letter reads:
Given the gravity of the matter and the failure to make headway despite numerous endeavors to engage you by the Board of Directors, you are hereby placed on leave without pay and benefits with immediate effect pending determination of the issues that have arisen as a result of your acts of omission or communication which have prejudiced the Corporation.
FeedbackZBC has already sued Mandizvidza at the High Court over the debt.
