Steward Bank Starts Own Cholera Crowd Funding Campaign, Promises To Match Funds Donated

Steward Bank has launched its own crowdfunding campaign, named Kanzatu-Nzatu, to raise money to fight cholera and typhoid. The bank promised to match dollar for dollar all the money raised through the campaign from individual contributions. The bank is seeking to raise USD 2,000,000 to fight cholera and typhoid which have killed over 40 people in Harare and Midlands. More than 7000 cases of cholera have been reported so far. At the time of publishing, the fund had received more than 430 donations amounting to $6423 in less than 24 hours since the fund was launched.

In a statement on its website, Steward Bank said,

Following the $10million donation towards containing a dual outbreak of cholera and typhoid, Econet is partnering with Higher Life Foundation to raise additional funds from corporates, charity organizations and individual well-wishers at home and abroad towards this national crisis. As part of our further commitment, the Econet Group will match dollar for dollar all individual contributions made towards this cause. Donations can be made from anywhere in the world using the Kanzatu-Nzatu fundraising platform powered by Steward Bank
