Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association (ZNLWVA) spokesperson Douglas Mahiya said the opposition was causing shortages and price hikes in order to force people to rebel against a legitimate Government.
He said the current situation was proof that Zanu-PF is not getting the co-operation of the business community. Said Mahiya:
It is an economic battle between the oppressors and the oppressed. Price hikes and shortage of basic commodities is a battle for the people to be caused to turn against their vote and disapproval themselves from being a justifiable population to have a government which determines its destiny. That is where the antagonism is and that is why I am citing the MDC in the disappearance of these things in order to force society to rebel a legitimate elected government of the people. They failed at the ballot box and now they want to make people suffer and make people listen to them. However, we will not be able to take that.

There is an element of truth in what Mahiya is saying, we can not rule out sabotage in these shortages and price hikes, why soon after elections it means the business community are not in support with the winning candidate( ruling government). But the fun party of it is MDC Alliance have around 2 million supporters who voted for them and these supporters are also being punished, mashops ndomamwe.
