'There's No Fight Between Biti And Chamisa'

MDC Alliance presidential spokesperson Dr Nkululeko Sibanda denied reports by The Herald that there was a fight between the coalition’s leader Nelson Chamisa and Tendai Biti.

The Herald reports Biti is plotting to grab power from Chamisa and sees himself as the natural leader of the opposition in Parliament by virtue of winning the Harare East parliamentary seat. The State owned publication also reports that Chamisa wants to re-assert his authority as the alliance leader through local authorities where he is sponsoring candidates loyal to him but he is facing resistance from Biti. However, Chamisa’s spokesperson told The Herald said such information was being spread by a few Zanu-PF sympathisers at Harvest House. Said Sibanda:

We have a few Zanu-PF people at Harvest House who will be lying to you. The MDC constitution is very clear on roles and responsibilities. Such things cannot happen under the current leadership. What happened in Bulawayo (where elections failed to take place) has nothing to do with the party.
