Govt Takes Over Mazowe Dam Which Had Been “Grabbed” By Grace Mugabe

 

The government through the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate has taken over the Mazowe Dam which had been previously seized by former first lady Grace Mugabe. We publish the notice from the Ministry below:

WATER ACT [CHAPTER 20:24]

Maintenance of Dams on Resettled Farms

It is hereby notified that the Minister of Environment, Water and Climate has in terms of section 6(1)c of the Water Act [Chapter 20:24], taken over the maintenance of the dam listed in the Schedule to ensure equitable access, effective and efficient water resource allocation on resettled farms.

The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) shall enter into agreement with individual farmers who want to access the water for irrigation purposes and any inquiries on how to access the required water volumes for irrigation purposes can be made to the Catchment Manager’s office located at
