Thokozile Mathuthu dies, Declared National Heroine

Thokozile Angela Mathuthu, a former Minister and Zanu-PF Women’s League deputy secretary, has died. She died on 13 August 2018. Mathuthu’s husband, Jonathan Mathuthu, said she succumbed to cancer at her residence in Harare. The Zanu-PF Politburo, which decides the hero status of individuals generally considered to have sacrificed themselves for the country, conferred her heroine status.

Said President Mnangagwa, when he visited her family’s home:

We have what we call a round-robin where we consult each other on decisions like these and I am happy to say we have unanimously agreed that she be accorded the national heroine status,

We are so happy that the leadership has accorded her the status and as President, I so declare.
