SA President Ramaphosa Confirms He Will Be Attending Mnangagwa's Inauguration On Sunday

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has confirmed that he will be attending the inauguration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa which has been scheduled for Sunday, the 12th August. Mnangagwa was declared the winner of the presidential by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) who said that he polled 50.8 per cent of the vote. However, opposition leader Nelson Chamisa who polled 44.3 per cent of the vote has alleged that the election was rigged and has vowed to challenge the results.

Unless the challenge is lodged, however, the inauguration will take place on Sunday. The MDC Alliance is yet to announce that it has challenged the presidential election although Advocate Thabani Mpofu, Chamisa’s lead counsel, said the application is ready. The Presidency of South Africa said,

President Cyril Ramaphosa will undertake Working Visits to the Republic of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and attend the Presidential Inauguration in the Republic of Zimbabwe. https://bit.ly/2KGLicC
