Authorities Tried To Falsify Post Mortem Results Of People Gunned Down: Families
Families of some of the six people who died after being gunned down following the deployment of soldiers on Wednesday have alleged that there was an attempt to falsify post-mortem results. The families alleged that authorities at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals wanted the cause of death to be attributed to stab wounds instead of gunshots. The families had to engage the services of a prominent lawyer to get the correct post-mortem reports. A relative of Sylvia Matambo Maphosa (52), who was shot in the back as she attempted to flee said,
The doctor who did the autopsy then yielded to pressure and asked to consult his superiors before coming out with autopsies that stated gunshot wounds as the cause of the death. We eventually accepted the papers and went on to collect the deceased’s body for burial today (yesterday).
FeedbackMinister of Health and Child Care, David Parirenyatwa promised to look into the matter.
