Army Denies Deploying Soldiers To Assault Residents In High-Density Areas

The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has denied that it deployed any soldiers to some of Harare’s high-density neighbourhoods. This follows reports of soldiers assaulting civilians in Glen View, Chitungwiza and Kuwadzana accusing them of taking part in the protests on Wednesday. The Army instead referred all questions to the police. Zimbabwe Defence Forces spokesperson, Colonel Overson Mugwisi said,

I am not aware of any such deployments in that area but if it was part of the elections operations, then it was not the ZDF in charge of such operations.
