Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba told journalists in Harare yesterday that they are still investigating the White City Stadium explosion that killed two security aides and injured 47 others.
She said a team compromising of all security arms is conducting investigations and will inform the public of any concrete developments. Said Charamba:
Investigations on the Bulawayo blast are still ongoing. The team comprising all the security arms are on the ground in Bulawayo and back here in Harare. So far they are conducting the investigations and once they have something concrete, we will be in a position to inform the media, Zimbabweans and everyone else in general.
Charamba also told journalists that police are investigating the murder of National People’s Party Mazowe North parliamentary candidate Rambai Lumbe’s two-year-old son, Professor. She said police are waiting for post-mortem results which will enable them to conclude investigations. Charamba said indications so far strongly suggest it was not politically-motivated.
