Police Also Get Special Allowance Of 20 Percent

The government has also introduced a special allowance for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) which is similar to that given to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF). However, while the ZDF’s special allowance is at 22.5 per cent, that for the ZRP is 20 per cent. This comes after the government introduced a 17.5 per cent pay increase for civil servants.

A letter written to Mr M Mtshiya, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage by the Police Service Commission reads,

RE: IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SPECIAL ALLOWANCE: ZIMBABWE DEFENCE FORCES

Following consultations between the office of the Chairman, Police Service Commission, Honourable Minister and Secretary for Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, please find attached a key scale with 20% Special Allowance applied to members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

Accordingly, proceed and effect adjustment with effect from 1 July 2018 as indicated on the key scales.
