Councils Should Not Disconnect Water For Defaulting Residents: Chiwenga

Addressing Zanu-PF youths and supporters at Malbereign Shopping Centre in Harare, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga said local authorities should not disconnect water for defaulting residents as such measures pose a health hazard.

Chiwenga said he will speak with July Moyo to ensure that councils stop the practice. Said Chiwenga:

Councils should not disconnect water for defaulting residents because of the health implications. I will speak with Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister July Moyo so that he directs councils to stop that.

  1. a good move chiwenga let them provide the services that they are being paid for kwete kungodya mari dzavanhu for nothing

  2. if council does not disconnect water people will not pay and then there is no money for chemicals to treat that water and for equipment repairs and things like diarrhoea and cholera increase and then those same people who did not pay and those who paid will get sick and start blaming that very same government again. Let’s not make insensible promises in the name of garnering votes and us also should not be naive whilst not looking at the big picture.
