Econet Speaks On EcoCash Transaction Challenges

In a statement in response to inquiries from The Chronicle, Econet Group Public Relations Officer, Mr Fungai Mandiveyi said the transaction challenges experienced by EcoCash customers are a result of a scheduled system maintenance work.

The statement comes after some people have been facing challenges accessing or transacting through EcoCash since Monday. Said Mandiveyi:

EcoCash advises that following scheduled system maintenance work, some customers have been experiencing intermittent transaction challenges. Our technical teams are working to resolve the challenges as soon as possible. EcoCash sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused.

According to a Techzim source, some shops have started instructing customers not to use EcoCash as they were emailed by the mobile money service provider who is failing to keep up with complaints of people coming to demand their money.

  1. I’m one of those people who support EW but their customer service lacks sincerity and professionalism. Unfortunately, customer service at EW is inversely proportional to EW’s growth or revenue increase. There does not seem to be a desire or a willingness within the EW fraternity ot resolve this critical issue any time soon, until perhaps we have direct competition from MTN or Vodacom…

  2. Scheduled maintenance oow my foot. Seriously between 4pm and 10 pm the peek hour for transactions. Why bother to advise Customer Giant Company…oh we customers dont matter. Tell us you had challenges you had challenges with your systems its not a crime that you were overwhelmed.
