I Was Not Fired From MDC-T After Refusing To Withdraw As An Independent Candidate: Majome

Jessie Majome told NewsDay that she has not received any formal dismissal letter from MDC-T after she refused to withdraw as an independent candidate. She is seeking to be reelected as Harare West member of parliament.

Majome was responding to news that MDC-T national chairman Morgen Komichi announced that all the 10 candidates that did not withdraw their nominations with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission by end of day on Wednesday would face dismissal. Majome also said she did she get a formal communication on the ultimatum. Said Majome:

I only saw it on social media and WhatsApp messages as well as online news sources, saying that I have been dismissed from the party, but I have not been informed. There was no letter sent to me by the party to inform me about the ultimatum to withdraw as an independent candidate, or to inform me of the dismissal.

She said there were never any talks with her and the Nelson Chamisa led MDC-T but says she continues to urge her constituents to vote for Chamisa when she conducts rallies.
