Updated: We Still Don't Have Voters' Roll Despite Asking Everyday For 2 Weeks But British Have It: MDC Alliance

The MDC Alliance has said that despite repeated efforts to get an electronic copy of the voters’ roll from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) in the past two weeks they are still to get a copy. However, the British Embassy in Harare has received a copy already. Speaking to Bloomberg, David Coltart said

I’m apoplectic. How come the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has handed a copy to the British embassy, but not to the main political party contesting the election when we’re the one entitled to it? We have 210 constituencies to check and we’ve not even been able to begin.

The British Embassy has advised locals to be patient and to use “pushiness” if they want to access the voters’ roll which they said it only took them 2 hours to get.

Speaking on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, MDC-T deputy treasurer Charlton Hwende said,

Today @ZECzim refused to give me a Voters Roll tomorrow I am coming with the people of Kuwadzana East maybe they will understand them better. 2018 No Rigging.

Nelson Chamisa also said

We still don’t have the voters roll. Our people have been told to wait 48 hours. We are struggling to understand why ZEC is frustrating our attempts to access this important document.

Update

David Coltart later confirmed on Tuesday that the MDC had finally received a copy of the roll.  Wrote coltart on twitter,
