Govt To Meet Teachers To Start Negotiations

In an interview with The Chronicle, Primary and Secondary Education Permanent Secretary Sylvia Utete-Masango said Government will meet teachers’ unions this week to start negotiations on a number of issues they raised which include vacation leave and allowances.

She said the teachers will negotiate with the National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC). Said Utete-Masango:

The NJNC is mandated with the responsibility of addressing some of the issues that the teachers are raising. A meeting will be held between the teachers and the NJNC this week to map the way forward. We’ll keep our ears on the ground and follow the proceedings.
