There’s No Disappearing Airtime Problem Says Econet

In a statement yesterday, Econet said its subscribers are not facing disappearing data or airtime problems on their network and advised clients experiencing the challenges to contact the company.

The statement by Econet comes at a time when its customers are complaining about missing data, especially on their daily and weekly packages.Said Econet:

Econet maintains that there is no disappearing balance problem on their network, and that where a customer experiences a change in balance that they cannot explain, they should immediately raise the matter with the company through its call centre or shops, or use its web self-care service, which is available for customers to monitor and track their usage of data or airtime from anywhere, at any time.

To prevent this, we introduced Out-Of-Bundle Blocking, which stops background data usage from occurring. We are pleased to say to date we are the only local Mobile Network Operator that offers this convenience, and many of our customers have signed up to use this feature.

We are not aware of any customer airtime or data consumption that we have not been able to account for and resolve. Any customers in need of assistance in this regard should call any of our contact centres, shops or service centres for personal customer support.

  1. For sure airtime and data are disappearing. If customers raise a problem I think you should address it. As for me in order to circumvent that problem I have resorted to using my Net One line because this big company that fleeced people of their airtime and data bundles never care what is happening to their clientele. That call centre they are referring you to is never answered. You end up going to their Econet shop. I went on Thursday to check a transaction I have done through Ecocash, i tell you the que was not moving at all. Had a few people less than 10 to be precise but was served after 9am and I joined the queue at 755am . Econet Shop cnr 1st and Jason Moyo.

  2. The customer care service simply tells you that you used the data and there is no recourse. Tried it several times there is no joy in contacting the company thats why customers are going public. Econet on its wont resolve this issue or this it has failed to do so.

  3. i think econet are trying to take their advantage because it is a big company. even though they are also increasing their tarrifs everyday and it won’t help at all..

  4. Mine happened with $45 worth of airtime in an hour I asked I was told that there was an anomaly that they will give back my airtime but up to this time no joy. I even went to Herbert Chitepo’s office to complain about it with no joy
