Mnangagwa Justifies Firing Of Nurses By Chiwenga

While addressing thousands of Johane Masowe Vadzidzi VaJesu Church pilgrims from across Africa at their Madziva Shrine, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said Government will do everything in its power “to address people’s concerns and grievances”.

Said Mnangagwa:

I think you are aware of the recent nurses’ strike where they chose to sacrifice people’s lives for selfish reasons. We engaged them in dialogue, but they opted to sleep at their respective homes. We responded by firing them. The decision to fire them created 2 000 jobs for qualified nurses who were not employed. However, most of them have since reapplied and are now back at work. They should respect the sanctity of human life. We should have dialogue in everything. I am a listening President and we will be there to address people’s concerns and grievances and not to resort to uncalled for protests.

  1. My view is that there are certain jobs (like firemen, nurses, doctors,) that do not afford you the luxury of going on strike. People’s lives depend on you and these sectors are aware of that. Having said that, these jobs should have appropriate remuneration, but realistic facts are that 90% of the working Zimbabwean population are not paid adequately. To prevent the sad loss of life due to strike action happening again, I am behind the firing.

  2. each n every Zim citizen a better lvng condition, gvt must pay a better wage to its workers or their children must suppose to have free education

  3. Mr President, i thought “the voice of the people was the voice of god?”
The people spoke so that you address their grievances and you and your administration fired them for that.
I wonder how your god works?

    1. There is an under current here. nurses are being used by their association which is an affiliate member of ZCTU the real force behind the MDC.

  4. I would not trzst some of these nurses as they can practise their neglegency on suffering patients. We all know what bitter people can do, especially when it comes to helping those in need without payment.

Some of these nurses may just go to work to secure their jobs but not perform their duties as they should.

People are generally not thankful, if it wasn’t for Chiwenga we would not have had a day to rejoice, this shows that these people have a vision for the country and not just for themselves and should we give them a cold shoulder ! NO, we need to give them time to perfom before we judge them.

I am 1000% percent behind the firing.

It’s our chance now or never, Mnangagwa and his guys are doing all they can to make our lives better and we should just open our eyes and support them all the way.

May peace be with all of you positive Zimbabweans….
