Zimbabwe Is Incapacitated To Allow Diaspora Vote: S.B. Moyo

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, retired Lieutenant-General Sibusiso Busi (S.B) Moyo has claimed that the government is working on allowing Zimbabweans outside the country to vote in the 2018 harmonised elections. However, the Minister was careful to state that, the government is currently incapacitated to ensure that all Zimbabweans who are based outside Zimbabwe can vote.

Speaking to Bloomberg TV in New York, where the Minister is currently courting potential investors, Moyo said

The constitution allows them to do so but for now, we are still working on the logistics, we are still incapacitated to make sure all Zimbabweans in the capitals of the world are able to vote.

This is in line with what President Emmerson Mnangagwa position. Mnangagwa has consistently said that Zimbabwe does not have the capacity to facilitate the diaspora vote. Mnangagwa was criticised for stating that Zimbabweans outside the country must come back home to vote despite the fact that the Constitutional Court is yet to make a decision on the matter.
