Harare City Council Wants Third Street Renamed After Tsvangirai

Harare City Council want Third Street to be renamed after MDC-T founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai who died in February this year after battling colon cancer.

The motion was moved by Rugare councillor, Peter Moyo, who is the chairperson of the council’s environmental committee. In an interview with NewZimbabwe.com, Moyo they had presented the proposal to the Minister of Local Government, July Moyo, for approval. Said Moyo:

The proposal was discussed by the committee which agreed on Third Street, although there had been concerns it was not a big enough street. It is now left for the official confirmation by the Minister of Local Government, who I believe will not have problems with it as he is level headed unlike the past Ministers who were rigid.
