There was debate and intense exchanges on social media as users reacted to comments that Unplugged has become rowdier due to the presence of more people from the “ghetto.” Unplugged is “Harare’s monthly blankets and wine style music festival” and costs $10 for people to gain entry into the event. It was started in 2012 by Chiedza Danha and Ellinah Mutandwa.
Some users accused one of the organisers of making the comments which ignited the debate. Rufaro, the owner of the popular pub and grill restaurant, Rufaro Shisanyama, which is located in Harare’s high-density suburb of Warren Park also shared his opinion which some did not seem to agree with.Β People from high-density suburbs were accused of stealing phones at the event. Here are some of the tweets,

Unplugged isn't a matter of uptown or ghetto. The way i see it. Its just rowdy. It does cater to a different crowd now. It isn't family friendly. It does get overly packed. The atmosphere changed.

Unplugged is also no longer my cup of tea. Itβs not family friendly & the crowd has gotten rowdier. I hear what Mikey is saying. At the same time the organizers are obviously okay with it cos thatβs more money for them. If you enjoy it then cool; if not, thatβs cool too.

But sweetie, Kedza is not from Budiriro, he is actually from Borrowdale. I know Kedza because he once stole a phone from me.

apparently someone lost their iPhone kuUnplugged now they blame it on "rowdy" people from the Ghetto and say it's a Northern Surbubians' event
