Mnangagwa Exposes Zanu-PF Agenda In Latest Interview

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s latest interview with French magazine, The Africa Report exposes that Zanu-PF is only out to seek approval from the West and not make any real changes ahead of the 2018 elections.

In the interview, Mnangagwa responds to United States Senators, Jeff Flake and Chris Coons’, both members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, proposal for the Donald Trump administration to amend the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act of 2001 and add tougher steps the Zanu-PF administration needs to take to have sanctions on Zimbabwe lifted. In his response, Mnangagwa claims Flake and Coons are not well-informed and will see that the situation is different on the ground when they visit Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa’s administration has already started the process of creating this “different situation on the ground” after the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) announced that they are looking for Itai Dzamara breaking three years of silence over the issue. In their proposal Coons and Flake call on the Zanu-PF administration to ensure the immediate inquiry into disappearance of prominent human rights activists as one of the conditions necessary for removal of sanctions by the US.
