“Your Time Is Up”: Biti Tells Mugabe

Speaking during a panel discussion during the 5th Chief Executive Officers’ Africa Round Table in Victoria Falls last Friday, former Finance Minister Tendai Biti said former President Robert Mugabe must understand that his time is up.

Biti said President Emmerson Mnangagwa should form a council of elders whose job would be to advise the State. Said Biti:

The former president must understand his time is up. We must create a council of elders made of elderly people who can sit and advise the State and maybe he should be there. If ED (President Mnangagwa) was here we would have told him to form one.

Deputy Minister of Finance Terrence Mukupe said Mugabe should rest and write books. Said Mukupe:

In our African culture we respect the elderly and as such we respect what the former President did for this country. But the criminals around him need to be stopped because he needs to retire, rest and write books so we learn from him.

  1. So here is an indication that some politicians want to return to a cultural democracy but whatever they continue to say “we must respect what Mugabe and Mnangagwa have done for this country” they must realise they are saying we respect treachery lies theft murder torture and wholesale corruption.
If that is the insight they demonstrate their own words condemn them
Zimbabwe will be led by one who will stand and say
A lie is a lie corruption is corruption God is God and there is only one way for Zimbabwe to survive and it is not by respecting Mugabe and Mnangagwa or compromising with the standards they have set
    Wake up Zimbabwe
