Civil Service Boss Mariyawanda Nzuwah Retired By ED After Reaching Pensionable Age

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is reported to have retired the chairman of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Mariyawanda Nzuwah. Nzuwah received his retirement letter from the Office Of the President and Cabinet as he has reached the retirement age of 65. He has been replaced by his former deputy, Mary Margaret Muchada until a substantive replacement is found.

Nzuwah served as the chairperson of the CSC for more than two decades after taking over from Malcolm Thompson in 1992.  President Mnangagwa government has committed itself to retiring all civil servants once they reach 65 years of age.

Nzuwah was in the news for the wrong reasons in 2016, after state media reported that he had racked up a cellphone bill of US$200,000 in July 2016 while on a month-long foreign trip.
