MDC Alliance Vows To Phase Out Bond Notes For "Real" Money, Says We Don't Need 100 Days

The coalition of opposition parties the MDC Alliance has said that if elected into office, it will end the cash shortages and phase out bond notes. Speaking at a rally in Victoria Falls, Nelson Chamisa, the presidential candidate for the MDC Alliance said,

Zanu-PF should restore confidence and trust. We don’t need 100 days; once we get into government the first thing to do will be to address the cash crisis. We will stop the bond notes and bring real money.

This was echoed by former Minister of Finance and MDC Alliance member Tendai Biti who said that the bond notes will be demonetised as they were being used for arbitrage.  This follows complaints from critics who argue that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s first 100 days in power did not result in any meaningful change, especially regarding the cash shortages which have been bedevilling the country for the better part of the last 2 years.
