Update: Chiwenga Rushed To Hospital After Tripping, Falling At Zanu-PF Headquarters
Vice President, retired general Chiwenga Constantino Chiwenga missed the Zanu-PF Politburo meeting on Wednesday after he slipped and fell at the Zanu-PF Headquarters. The former commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces is reported to have injured his hand during the fall. He was forced to miss the Politburo meeting as he had to rush to seek medical attention. However, his injury is reported to be mild. A staffer who was present when the incident took place, told the Daily News,
We were all worried when he slipped and hurt his hand but, as you saw, he is a fighter. He just had to be excused earlier to get his hand looked at.
Chiwenga joins former president Robert Mugabe and former Police boss Augustine Chihuri on the list of high profile political figures who have suffered mishaps in public.
Update: Chiwenga later took to social media site, Twitter, to reassure his supporters saying that he had been fatigued. Said Chiwenga,
Let not your hearts be troubled by the rumour doing the rounds, I am well, fatigue had taken toll due to our tight schedules. Good night Zim
