“It’s Been A Period Of Lies, Nothing But Lies, Zero Performance”: Biti Savages Mnangagwa’s First 100 Days

Former minister of finance and leader of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Tendai Biti has described President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s first 100 days in office as a complete disaster. Biti said that Mnangagwa could have done more but has only empty slogans to show.

Speaking to New Zimbabwe, Biti said:

It’s been a disaster. There has been nothing. It’s been a period of missed opportunities. It’s been a period of lies; nothing but lies, zero performance!

Hundred days is a lot of time. He could easily have aligned laws with the new constitution, come up with amendments to the Electoral Act, forced a commission of enquiry into diamonds (theft), laid out his own vision, come up with electoral reform, dealt with the issue of macroeconomic stability by simply saying we live within our means.

As of now, he is in limbo. People have found him out. The emperor has no clothes; it’s a damp squib.

…In a hundred days, we had abandoned the Zim-dollar, coupons that civil servants were using, reopened the stock exchange, launched STERP (Short Term Emergency Recovery Programme) which was a key macro stability factor.

  1. Kana uri sewe zvako Biti tinyararire, hapana zvinoziikanwa pauri apo……Pamberi ne Zanu PF, Pamberi naED Mnangagwa!!

  2. Biti is right, what have we seen and achieved in the first 100 days, lets not fight and show our myopic understanding of democratic systems, everyone has a right to his opinion, l don’t and l will not support Biti s party l can’t even tell the difference with other parties, but those who say we have achieved something tangible say it, name it to shame Biti, there is no difference between this government and Robert Mugabes.
There is no clear road map on the repair of our infrastructure which is in a sorry state, we are seeing the same. Cars are being ferried left right and centre by recovery companies with a sea of potholes allover. Can ED use the Masvingo Mvuma road to his farm to Kwekwe and see what we are experiencing every day. Corruption corruption and corruption only, why are we so lame that we can’t reach a decision to implement the rehabilitation or the reconstruction of the Chirundu Beit Bridge road. Minister Gumbo of Transport have been there presiding the ministry during the Mugabe era, nothing happened on this road, the problem is whoever makes a decision on the award of the tender is being asked koisu tokwana papi kana pasina yedu hapana chinobuda.

ED should have ditched this nonsense and useless bond notes and reintroduce proper muilt currency, not this worthless bond note which is not even worthy the colour, the bond paper value it has been written on. I swear all these elite politician they don’t even know this bond notes, it is the currency for the poor, it is the currency for the disadvantaged, Mugabe was globe trotting allover the world, was he carrying bond notes to do their expensive shopping, and now ED in his first hundred days, he visited the following countries,
    1. SA
    2. DRC
    3.Mozambique
    4. Davors
    5. Bots
    6. Namibia
    7. Zambia
    9. Ethopia

Can they tell us that they were carrying bond notes, no the whole team were awash in brand new US$100 dollar notes. Alas, us back home here, we are trying to revive this economy from the sorry state Mugabe left it on, we can’t even import imputs or spare parts for our agricultural equipment because we are also awash with these useless nonsense worthles, bond notes which you can’t even withdraw from the bank.
In his 100 days to implement change, ED have been out of the country more than the times he have been in the country. The same issue with Mugabe, during his last days of glory, it was unheard for Robert to spend 10 days here in the country, without inventing a foreign trip. Then how does one achieve his objectives and parameters set when one spend less time on the task and more time on shopping and globe trotting. On simple mathematics, in every 10 days, ED had a foreign trip in his first 100 days.

Taneta, we nolong want the ChiMugabe type of governance.
