In an interview with media personality, Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa, on Capitalk FM, Job Sikhala claimed that the violence which occurred at the burial of Morgan Tsvangirai was instigated by agents from the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO). Vice president Thokozani Khupe and secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora were threatened with death and had to seek protection from the police at one point. However, party spokesperson Obert Gutu distanced himself from the allegation, although he conceded that he had received threats from youth members of the MDC-T.
