SA Hospital Apologises For Tsvangirai's Picture Leak, Says Nurse Has Been Disciplined
The Wits Gordon Hospital in South Africa has apologised for an image of a terminal Morgan Tsvangirai which went viral on social media. The picture shows a nurse posing next to the veteran opposition leader who looks lethargic and lifeless. The hospital also said that the nurse has been disciplined. This follows a complaint from Zimbabwean healthcare professional Sol Masawi.
Tertia Kruger, the spokesperson for the hospital said:
It is with regret that we note recent posts on social media showing a photograph of Mr Tsvangirai with a nursing staff member.
FeedbackWe have investigated the matter and, according to the nursing staff member, the photograph was taken with the permission of Mr Tsvangirai.
We strongly condemn the appropriateness of the photograph and its subsequent distribution and confirm that disciplinary action has been taken against the nursing staff member.
