Lovemore Madhuku’s National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) party has accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa of using ministerial posts to reward his friends from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and from his faction. The NCA also accused Mnangagwa of rewarding people who had betrayed former president Robert Mugabe.
Speaking to New Zimbabwe, NCA spokesperson Maddock Chivasa said:
What is most disturbing to the NCA party is that the new President is not ashamed to use Cabinet posts to reward his friends from the army and his Zanu PF party faction.
This is why suddenly we see a person called July Moyo being given a key Ministry of Local Government Public Works and National Housing, the army general who announced the coup, Major General Sibusiso Moyo, is now the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is supposed to be the face of Zimbabwe to the world. What it means is that the world must see military control of the government in Zimbabwe.
The rest of the Ministers from the former cabinet are being rewarded for betraying former President Robert Mugabe.
The NCA has always said that the Constitution gives too much power to the sitting President to appoint an unlimited number of cabinet Ministers. This is the power that was abused by the new President to appoint his friends.
