MPs Warn Mnangagwa About His Advisers After Cabinet Boob, Say Mugabe Was Given Wrong Speech

Parliamentarians have warned President Emmerson Mnangagwa to thoroughly vet his advisers after the President was forced to amend his Ministerial picks in order to comply with the Constitution. This was after Mnangagwa had named more than the maximum five non-parliamentarians stipulated by the Constitution. Mnangagwa ended up firing the much-maligned former minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Lazarus Dokora and reassigning three other ministers barely 48 hours after appointing them.  The President was warned that his predecessor, former President Robert Mugabe, was given the wrong speech by the very same people.

Musikavanhu MP Prosper Mutseyami (MDC) said:

The president must look thoroughly on the house of advisors he has. Last time, the former president was given a wrong speech to read by these same advisors, so the president must be careful.

Here we are looking at the Constitution. The president’s advisors failed to advise the president and as MPs, we are worried that the president named almost 10 ministers out of Parliament. However, he managed to reverse the decision

Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda said that the point had been noted.
