Tajamuka Leader Suspended For One Year For Abusing Donor Funds

Activist group, Tajamuka/Sesjikile Campaign has suspended its spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi for one over allegations of abusing donor funds to the tune of $8 750. The suspension started on the 30th of November 2017. Mkwananzi was found guilty in absentia after he chose not to appear before the disciplinary hearing. He is alleged to have diverted funds meant for the movement to purchase a Subaru car. The disciplinary committee also ordered Mkwananzi to return the $8 750.

Part of the Tribunal’s report reads:

Mr Promise Mkwananzi be suspended from the campaign for a period of one year, taking effect from 30 November 2017; that at the completion of the one-year suspension, he be barred from joining any of the committees of the campaign for a period of five years.

In October Mkwananzi stepped down as Tajamuka/Sesjikile Campaign spokesperson to allow investigations to take place smoothly. Back then Mkwananzi said:

Following serious allegations being levelled against me by Fadziso Doyce nee Jena, I am temporarily recusing myself from the position of Tajamuka spokesperson to save the movement from my personal troubles and to take time to clear my name and allow my colleagues to take a look at the allegations. I will continue to serve and participate in Tajamuka activities but no longer in the capacity of its spokesperson. Thank you. God bless you all.
