"It's too early to criticise the President": Mutsvangwa defends Mnangagwa
Special Advisor to the President Christopher Mutsvangwa has come out in defense of President Emmerson Mnangagwa saying that it is too early to criticise him. He also defended Mnangagwa’s choice of cabinet ministers.
Mutsvangwa also claimed that MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai turned down Mnangagwa’s request to include members of the opposition in the cabinet. He said then it was unjustified for people to criticise Mnangagwa’s cabinet minister and his inclusion of members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF). Said Mutsvangwa:
I am saying this because all the papers have started attacking the new President. He is being judged in 37 hours more than someone who has been in power for 37 years. The choice of the President to include members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces is his prerogative, moreso when they are loyal, patriotic and competent. There is no law in the world which says generals cannot be found in Cabinet. We even start with American statecraft. President (Donald) Trump has generals in his cabinet and they do not make an issue out of it. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Did they say the American government is a military junta? These are double standards. We condemn any finger pointing at our illustrious army. Stay away from finger pointing at our army. It is the best in the world.
