Britain To Give Zim Loan To Solve Cash Crisis Depending On Reforms

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said on Wednesday, that his country was willing to help Zimbabwe to stabilise its currency system and solve the cash shortages which have plagued Zimbabwe for the better part of the last two years. Speaking on the sidelines of the African Union-EU summit in Abidjan, Johnson said that Britain was willing to extend a loan to Zimbabwe to help it clear its obligations to the World Bank and the African Development Bank.

However, Johnson emphasised that any financial support would depend on “democratic progress” made by the country’s new President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his administration.

Said Johnson:

Those are indeed the things that we would try to do to help Zimbabwe forward, but we’ve got to see how the democratic process unfolds

Recent events in Zimbabwe offer a moment of hope for the country and its people.

This is a time to look to the future and to make clear that Britain shares the common vision of a prosperous, peaceful and democratic Zimbabwe.

I am encouraged by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s words so far.

During his inauguration speech, he promised to reform the economy and give investors the security of title they need if Zimbabwe is to fulfil its potential and create the jobs that are sorely needed.

For as long as the President acts on his words, then Britain is willing to work alongside him and offer all the support we can.

  1. The following information was taken from an excerpt in an online news paper called PINDULA NEWS. It is similar to TECHZIM NEWS, but based in SA or Britain. Here is what it said…..and this is not good news to me because this is how Zimbabweans can be enslaved…By Debt…..This is how you can become a colony again. It is the people of a country that is ultimately put into debt…a very old trick of the western powers. What ever they do only benefits a few rich people in the country, but the entire population is stuck with the debt, and have to be subject to good governance (which simply means selling off or privatizing your basic things..i.e. ZESA, WATER, EDUCATION etc to private companies aboard). Here is what was said in the paper::: British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said on Wednesday, that his country was willing to help Zimbabwe to stabilise its currency system and solve the cash shortages which have plagued Zimbabwe for the better part of the last two years. Speaking on the sidelines of the African Union-EU summit in Abidjan, Johnson said that Britain was willing to extend a loan to Zimbabwe to help it clear its obligations to the World Bank and the African Development Bank.

However, Johnson emphasised that any financial support would depend on “democratic progress” made by the country’s new President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his administration.. end….Very, very big mistake. the people of a country should vote on such a strategy, and be educated as to what it may entail.

  2. The democratic policy trick. History is full of this nonsense in Western International politics. Don’t be fooled by this nonsense. There is no such thing as democracy. It is an illusion in any country that has one person with $10,000,000. and another person wondering where his/her next meal is coming from. Do you really believe that your ex-colonizer is assisting you because it has become benevolent??? Can you not see there is an ulterior motive?

  3. The best way to kill a chicken is to toss some food for it and draw it closer to you then capture it(the African way lol). This is what it’s like when someone gives you a debt, you become a slave to such a person or nation. This time we wanna do it our own way, in as much as ED is being judged im betting my last dollar in him

  4. I think it’s a good gesture the British are our Ex colonial masters and they know exactly our needs and their Word is their Bond it’s better for ED to deal with the British as we have British Nationals in our country. I notice that there were no negative comments like this when the Mdc talked about getting 15billion from America now that’s dodgy I don’t trust Yankees. We have many mutual relationship with Britain as Brexit takes effect we have a lot to offer in Trade to Britain and Emmerson was quick to realise this. Mugabe brought our economy to the ground not the British they do not deserve the comments from the likes of misguided Pofessor Ncube and some comments about enslavement. To be honest such comments come from Mugabe’s disciples. Who would lambast the British while managing the economy and killing people
