Zimbabwe Defence Forces Speak On UZ Protest

Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), General Constantino Chiwenga spoke on the strike by the students at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) in his press statement at the KG VI Barracks.

Without mentioning the name, Chiwenga said that students across the country are encouraged to be calm and to proceed with their educational programmes as scheduled. This comes after the University of Zimbabwe announced that it was closing early and deferring exams to next year, after students refused to write the exams until President Robert Mugabe stepped down.

Said Chiwenga

Students at the country’s various institutions are encouraged to be calm and to proceed with their educational programmes as scheduled. THEY NEED TO REMEMBER THAT, ONE DAY OF EDUCATION LOST IS DIFFICULT TO RECOVER. Once again, as the Zimbabwe Defence and Security Services, we pay particular tribute to all Zimbabweans for the regard and support shown to us during the execution
