AMALGAMATED RURAL TEACHERS UNION OF ZIMBABWE
Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Ambassador House
20 November 2017
RE: DEMAND FOR YOUR RESIGNATION AS MINISTER OF PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
The above refers to Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz), which demands that your, Dr Lazarus Dokora resign forthwith as Minister of Primary and Secondary Education.
It is our collective resolution as representatives of teachers that you totally failed to discharge your duties in this crucial sector which has resulted in a number of challenges facing the education system today. You have also deliberately chosen to be arrogant and authoritarian in discharging your mandate making it difficult to engage in sincere dialogue with your office.
Furthermore, you have lost the respect of teachers, your subordinates in the ministry, parents and generality of Zimbabweans.
In light of this, it is apparent that you resign immediately and allow for the sector to start critical reforms.
Failure to resign immediately, or within 24 hours, will leave us with no choice but to stage series of nationwide Peaceful street protests demanding that you step down.
We hope you will show remorse for your ill-advised education policies by resigning from your post as a Minister We pray that you have the conscience to realize that your continued stay will only lead to more problems in the education sector
For and on behalf of ARTUZ
