Mugabe is under house arrest for his own protection, he caused severe suffering to Zimbabweans: Temba Mliswa

Former Zanu-PF legislator and independent MP for Norton, Temba Mliswa has claimed that the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) have placed President Robert Mugabe under house arrest for his own protection. Mliswa said that Mugabe had caused untold suffering to Zimbabwe’s people. Mliswa then ironically adds that Zimbabweans have no feeling of retribution.  The ZDF placed Mugabe under house arrest after taking over power following a warning to Zanu-PF to stop purging liberation war veterans.

Writing on microblogging site Twitter Mliswa said:

The confinement of the HE by the military is a precautionary move to PROTECT the president from any danger. That man has caused severe suffering of the people of Zimbabwe, good thing Zimbabweans have no feeling of retribution. The situation is under control.

He also added that he did not want South Africa to attempt to save Mugabe, referring to Thabo Mbeki’s mediation of the Zimbabwe Crisis in the mid-2000s period.

Said Mliswa again on Twitter:

Have arrived in Botswana, we need to ensure that SADC and our fellow comrades from the region will respect the sovereignty of Zimbabwe, we are ok and we do not need SA to engineer another round table salvation for the former President RG.
