Mnangagwa faces treason charge

Former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa faces a treason charge following his response to President Robert Mugabe.

Government sources yesterday told NewsDay, that Mnangagwa could alternatively be charged with conspiracy to overthrow a constitutionally-elected government. A treason charge attracts a death sentence or life in prison. When contacted for comment by NewsDay, Information minister Simon Khaya Moyo confirmed that they are studying Mnangagwa’s statement and an announcement on the appropriate action would be made “shortly”.
