The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has said that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are preferring to charge Martha O’Donovan with attempting to overthrow President Robert Mugabe.
ZRP initially arrested her on Friday and confiscated her laptop after claiming that she undermined the authority of or insulted President Robert Mugabe through a message which she allegedly posted on social media. ZRP allege that O’Donovan insulted Mugabe when she allegedly tweeted that “We are being led by a selfish man and sick man.”
They allege that she is the one behind the account which bears the username mmatigari (@matigari). The account has however been tweeting while O’Donovan has been in police custody.
