Zimra plans to increase fines on tax offences
The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) is lobbying for an increase on fines on tax offences through Finance and Economic Development Minister Dr Ignatious Chombo’s 2018 National Budget.
Speaking at a Zimra tax appreciation awards dinner on Monday, chairperson Mrs Willia Bonyongwe said:
I was saying to the board it is not fair for those who pay taxes when those who do not (comply), pay small penalties. This is budget time and we are lobbying. The fines we have are not deterring enough (and) we want to adopt international best practices.
FeedbackZimra Acting Commissioner General Mr Happias Kuzvinzwa urged tax payers not to bribe tax officials.
