WHO moots reversing Mugabe's appointment as goodwill ambassador

World Health Organisation (WHO) director-general Tedros Ghebreyesus said that he is rethinking the recent appointment of President Robert Mugabe as a “goodwill ambassador.”

In a new tweet, Dr Ghebreyesus said:

Mugabe’s appointment has been met with criticism at home and abroad with the United States labeling the appointment as “disappointing.” The US State Department said:

This appointment clearly contradicts the United Nations ideals of respect for human rights and human dignity.
