Ministers who have lost their posts and their replacements

1. Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs

Emmerson Mnangagwa was replaced by Happyton Bonyongwe. This loss for Mnangagwa does not come as a shock.

2. Minister of Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Restrictees

Tshinga Dube who is regarded to be an ally of Mnangagwa’s and a supporter of the Christopher Mutsvangwa led faction of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association, was replaced by Cain Mathema. Dube had been warned not to align himself with Mutsvangwa as it would result in his political demise.

3. Minister of State for Mashonaland West Province

Another Mnangagwa loyalist Faber Chidarikire lost his post to Webster Shamu who was recently readmitted into the ruling party’s central committee following his suspension in the aftermath of the 2014 Zanu PF congress for allegedly aligning with deposed former Vice-President Joice Mujuru in an alleged plot to topple Mugabe.

4. Minister of State for Masvingo Province

The late Shuvai Mahofa did not lose this post but however the Lacoste faction has lost this post to a member of the G40, Paul Chimedza.

5. Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare

Prisca Mupfumira has lost her post to President Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao who is anti-Mnangagwa. Zhuwao will now be responsible for that civil servants bonus.
