Mnangagwa ally expelled from Zanu-PF

Harare businessman and Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ally Energy Mutodi has been expelled from Zanu-PF. ZBC reports have confirmed that the decision was reached during today’s Zanu-PF politburo meeting although Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Simon Khaya Moyo, did not give the reasons for Mutodi’s expulsion.

In recent weeks Mutodi has been arrested twice for Facebook posts aimed at senior members of Zanu-PF including President Robert Mugabe. Mutodi was arrested for suggesting that a coup is likely to take place if Mugabe does not choose his successor wisely. He will stand trial on charges of causing disaffection among the Defence Forces and undermining authority of, or insulting the President of Zimbabwe.

He was also arrested after Defence Minister Sydney Sekeramayi reported him to ZRP Law and Order for a Facebook post that alleged that him and David Parirenyatwa are responsible for poisoning Mnangagwa.
