SA Health Minister criticises African leaders for seeking medical care abroad
Speaking in Zimbabwe at a World Health Organization (WHO) meeting of African health ministers South Africa’s Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi criticised African leaders for being the only ones who travelled abroad for health reasons. Said Motsoaledi
I have said this before and I will say it again: we are the only continent that has its leaders seeking medical services outside the continent, outside our territory. We must be ashamed of that. This is called health tourism. We must promote our own.
By the time Motsoaledi spoke, President Mugabe had already left the event. Mugabe is notorious for his foreign travels with many speculating that he will be seeking medical care in Singapore.
