Mugabe’s birthday set to be announced as a public holiday

News reaching us is that the announcement on the declaration of President Robert Mugabe’s birthday on 21 February as a public holiday is set for tomorrow.

As far as 2015, Zanu-PF’s youth league has been calling for Mugabe’s birthday to be declared a national holiday. At the time Pupurai Togarepi proposed Robert Mugabe Day which he said would be celebrated in the same manner South Africa commemorates Nelson Mandela Day. In February 2017, Zanu-PF secretary for youth affairs Kudzanai Chipanga said that celebrating Mugabe’s birthday is just like celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Zanu-PF’s youth league has also proposed the renaming of Harare International Airport to honour Robert Mugabe.
