The Zimbabwe Republic Police has expressed concern over an increase in the rape of pupils and advised parents to make sure that their kids are accompanied to and from schools.
National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said:
Police would like to appeal to school authorities and members of the public to help ensure the safety of pupils under their custody. School authorities should take it upon themselves to encourage pupils to move in groups.
It has become very unsafe for pupils to walk on their own in both rural and urban areas. Where possible parents and custodians should escort their kids on their way to school and after school.
