Eskom threatens to switch off ZESA by end of month
Eskom has threatened to cut off ZESA by the end of this month if it fails to honour the payment plan whereby it pledged to pay US$10 million monthly to Eskom as part of settling a debt which had reached US$43 million dollars.
Sources who spoke to ZBC News said that ZESA failed to meet the agreed amount hence the threat by Eskom to switch off electricity. The sources did not however divulge the amount that ZESA paid this month. Minister of Energy and Power Development, Samuel Undenge told ZBC News that his ministry is negotiating with officials from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) and Ministry of Finance and Economic Development to pay outstanding amounts.
