MDC-T making coalition negotiations difficult, accused of being a dictator

Addressing journalists in Bulawayo, ZAPU leader Dumiso Dabengwa revealed that the MDC-T was making negotiations difficult as it refused to change the name of the coalition from MDC-T and that the leader of the coalition would be no one else but Morgan Tsvangirai.

Dabengwa also said that the MDC-T was not forthcoming when asked about the details of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed by Tsvangirai and other opposition leaders who include Joice Mujuru, Mr Tendai Biti and Professor Welshman Ncube. Said Dabengwa:

There are certain areas that they say are not negotiable, for instance the name of the coalition will not be negotiated. It will be MDC-T. And the other hint we received is that the leader of the coalition is also not negotiable because the leader is already there. So, we don’t know what is going to happen at the end.

We still don’t understand the purposes of these MOUs. It’s an issue we hope to get an explanation on during our next CODE (Coalition for Democrats) meeting. But I think we also got the hint from MDC-T that it was not interested in the type of coalition that we had created and it was going to do it on bilateral basis.
