Giving an update on revenue collection for the six months ending June 30, 2017, Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) board chairperson Mrs Willia Bonyongwe reported that there had been 21 suspensions resulting in 3 officers being dismissed for corruption related issues.

Bonyongwe said the remaining officers were still being investigated. She also said that the revenue collector’s anti-corruption hotline received 394 reports with 218 of those reports being fully investigated. Said Bonyongwe:

Corruption remains a challenge but Zimra’s resolve to combat it is strong. The anti-corruption hotline received 394 reports. Of these 218 were fully investigated while the remaining cases are still under different investigation. The investigations yielded about $120 million in assessments, 21 suspensions resulting in three officers who were dismissed as a result of those reports.
